Huey was a keen photographer, and on his collecting trips, he obtained not just specimens, but also documentary images of the landscape, flora and fauna, and people he met.
The SDNHM Library Archives hold captioned photo albums of his work.
More photographs are held at the University of Arizona Library, which houses a collection of "chiefly black and white photographs taken from 1922-1962 on field trips throughout Arizona, California, and Baja California. Other states are represented in smaller numbers, as are Argentina, Canada, and Costa Rica. The main subjects are birds and mammals in their natural environments, but many photographs also document the field expedition, local inhabitants, notably the Seri Indians, and the vegetation" (University of Arizona Library catalog, accessed June 9, 2003).
