Alan Reeves, Composer/Keyboard Player/Producer
British born Alan Reeves has been called "an amazing performer" and has been praised worldwide for his playing on the Hammond B3, specializing in Blues and Blues and Rhythm n' Blues. Playing concerts with his father since he was 12 years old, he is a prolific composer who has composed music for 21 films, and over 300 television commercials in addition to producing several albums and singles.
Reeves has composed many original scores, including the landmark Canadian/Chinese/French epic, Bethune, starring Donald Sutherland and Helen Mirren; Rainbow, the world's first all-digital feature film directed by and starring Bob Hoskins, and the soon-to-be-released To Walk With Lions, (the sequel to Born Free), starring Richard Harris. His other work includes: Young Ivanhoe (1996, TV, MOW); Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (1996 TV, MOW); Natural Enemy (1997, HBO); The Call of the Wild (1996, feature); Twists of Terror (1996, Showtime); Dark Harbor (1997, feature), For Hire (1998, feature). Owd Bob (1998, feature); Out of Control (1998, feature); and Nico the Unicorn (1998/1999, feature)
His work has won him over 30 international awards including Italy's Best Soundtrack of the Year, The Gold Plaque Award at the Chicago International Film Festival, The International Broadcasting Award in Hollywood, First Award and three Finalists at The 16th Annual Belding Awards in Los Angeles, four Clios in New York, and four Lions at Cannes. One of his compositions was selected for the International Festival of the Seoul Olympiad.
Reeves divides his time working between Montreal, Los Angeles, and the French Riviera where he has his own state-of-the-art recording studio in Cannes developed by the technicians at Skywalker Ranch/Sound and heard in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
Michael McDonough, Sound Designer
Explosions, gun shots, science fiction effects and many more sound effects by Michael McDonough are heard daily on network televisions shows and feature films. With 13 large-format film productions already to his credit, Michael McDonough has found a unique outlet for his expertise in sound.
Since graduating from Brigham Young University in 1976 with a degree in communications, he has been involved in various aspects of producing, writing, recording, editing and mixing sound projects for radio, television, and film. Beginning in radio in the 1980's, he wrote, produced and engineered 13 half-hour science fiction radio dramas featuring the short stories of long-time friend Ray Bradbury for National Public Radio, which captured him the Peabody Award in 1985. From there, Michael went on to film sound, doing location work, and eventually editing and mixing. Walt Disney's The Black Cauldron was his first film assignment, in which he created over 250 original sounds for the film, coordinating his work with composer Elmer Bernstein.
He has worked on many film and television projects including sound design for CBS's The Twilight Zone, special sound creation for Remington Steel, LA Law, and several Movies-of-the-Week and mini-series.
His assignment as sound editor on his first IMAX® film, Polynesian Odyssey, was followed by 12 more 70mm large-format, special-venue films including Legacy, Zion Canyon, Ozarks, The Great American West, Hearst Castle, Amazon, The Witness, Special EffectsAnything Can Happen, Olympic Glory, Mysteries of Egypt, and Island of the Sharks. Both Amazon and Special Effects were nominated for Academy Awards. Mike recently was awarded a Golden Reel Award from the Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) for his sound work on Island of the Sharks.
He has also been sound editor/rerecording mixer on numerous independent live-action and animated feature-length films, including additional sound design on Star Trek First Contact, and Star Trek Insurrection. In addition to his film sound work, Michael has been a regular contributor of specialty sound effects to Sound Ideas, the world's largest professional sound effects library.
